HVAC hiring assessments for San Antonio contractors

If you run an HVAC company in San Antonio or nearby Texas markets, a resume and a short interview rarely tell you who will show up on time, treat a homeowner well, or stay steady through a string of emergency calls. VerticalFit is a role-specific pre-hire assessment built for HVAC teams — not a generic personality quiz with your logo on it.

Pre-hire assessments

Hiring assessments for HVAC companies

  • CSR
  • Apprentice
  • Service Technician
  • Install Lead
  • Comfort Advisor
  • Office Manager

Who it’s for

Texas HVAC employers hiring for dispatch and customer service, apprenticeship, field service, installation leadership, comfort sales, and office operations. The service is currently offered for roles based in Texas.

Six HVAC roles, six weightings

Every candidate answers the same core assessment. Scoring weights the six work-style dimensions differently by role:

CSR

Phones, booking, and dispatch

Apprentice

Entry-level, learning under a licensed tech

Service Technician

Diagnose and repair in the field

Install Lead

Runs the job or crew on-site

Comfort Advisor

Quotes and closes replacements

Office Manager

Billing, scheduling, day-to-day ops

What the assessment measures

Detail orientation, empathy and client care, assertiveness and negotiation, emotional stability, ethical judgment, and communication. It is a structured questionnaire about work style — a screening and interview-guide aid. It is not a background check, not a medical or psychological evaluation, and not the sole basis for a hiring decision. Use it alongside a structured interview, references, and any work sample you already use.

How it works

  1. Send a link

Choose the HVAC role in the employer portal and send the candidate a link.

  2. They take it

About 50 short statements (roughly 15–20 minutes) on any device — no account required. Some roles can include an optional Excel skills check.

  3. You get the report

Answers are scored in the candidate’s browser. A report goes to your own results spreadsheet and is emailed to the recipient you designate (HR, owner, or hiring manager). VerticalFit does not keep a database of candidate reports.

Built-in integrity checks. Questions are scrambled per candidate and cross-checked for inconsistent answering so results reflect the person, not a lucky guess at the “right” answers.

$89/month founding rate, unlimited assessments

Questions HVAC employers ask

Is this an HVAC skills or license test?

No. VerticalFit measures work-style fit weighted for the HVAC role you select. It does not replace licensing, technical testing, or your own trade evaluation.

Can I use different assessments for a CSR and a service tech?

Yes. You pick the role in the portal. The same six dimensions are weighted differently for CSR, apprentice, service tech, install lead, comfort advisor, and office manager.

How long does it take a candidate?

About 15–20 minutes for the core assessment (50 short statements plus one question about AI familiarity). Some roles may include a short Excel check.

Do you store candidate results?

Reports are delivered to your own Google results spreadsheet and emailed from your account. VerticalFit does not operate a database of completed candidate reports.

Is VerticalFit only for San Antonio?
